Advanced Nurse Practitioner
Ana Cadena is one of the department’s nurse practitioners serving the Minimally Invasive Spine Service of the Neurological Institute of New Jersey. Ana’s focus is evaluation and management of patients in the outpatient setting.
Mrs. Cadena started her career as a registered nurse in medical-surgical/ oncology in St. James Hospital in 2002. She also has experience in immunology as well as special procedures. She then went on to become the medical- surgical director in Saint James Hospital in 2007. She began her career as an advanced practice nurse in 2007 when she joined Hackensack Medical Center where she worked in the John Theur Cancer center under the thoracic and GI division as an adult nurse practitioner. She has served as adjunct faculty at Bergen County Community college teaching clinical for the nursing program and she joined UMDNJ in January 2011 working under the spine service.
Mrs. Cadena obtained her bachelor‘s degree in nursing from Seton Hall University in 2003 and her master’s degree in nursing as an adult nurse practitioner in 2007. She is certified as an adult nurse practitioner by the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners and her other certifications include Oncology -Nursing and Medical-Surgical. She is also fluent in Spanish.
